| Do
you find yourself scouring on-line classified websites browsing
used gear? Or the auction type website looking for the "thing"
you don't really need but want. Maybe like a lot of us you spend
quite a bit of time visiting music shops wondering what forgotten
treasure might be hanging on the wall or tucked away in some corner
of a dusty display case.
We
do.
So
we've put together this website.
It's our hope that individuals as well as retailers will use it
as a rally point for buying and selling used gear.
Why
this site?
Well
we want to bring it all together so then users can be easily notified
when a new guitar hits the marketplace. Suppose you were looking
for that 1980 Hondo II in flat wood tone just like your dad had
when he was a teenager and it found its way into some local shop
and before you ever got to see it some jerk waltzes in and buys
it? Imagine your birthright in the hands of some other chump!
If it
was listed here, and you registered to be notified of new Electric
Guitar listings you might have been able to land that heirloom.
For retailers
why risk customers not finding their way to your website to see
if maybe you updated your used inventory? If one central rally
point existed that everyone checked... wouldn't you want your
merchandise included? Forget about that big (yet plain and often
annoying) classified website, retailers are shut out. And while
we're talking smack about them, wouldn't it be cool if all the
listings had an image right up front? An image is worth a thousand
words after all, and really, isn't typing overrated?
This
is of course a chicken/egg scenario, unless we had tons of listings
- - who would bother to check it out? If people weren't coming
here, why list? We know this, and that's why we're paying people
to list their items with us. Our goal is to get and average 500+
items on here within a short amount of time, ideally we'd like
1000 items or so. So we'll pay
you to list your used gear here, no really. And in
the coming months we aim to run several promotions and giveaways
to liven it up.
Tell
your friends and brush off that old crap you're not using anyway,
it could be some other guy's birthright.

Have you ever
bought or sold a used musical instrument on that famous on-line
auction website? Or maybe you've used that massive "list
style" cyber-trading post. Both are effective yet have their
pros and cons. If you're like us there are things about each you
find frustrating and less than perfect for your needs.
That's why
we've created MUSICSALVAGE.COM
So what's
the deal?
Well here's
what we consider to be the pros and cons of the current resources
available to buy and sell used musical instruments:
